Two LafargeHolcim Cement Plants Awarded EPA ENERGY STAR® For Commitment to Energy Efficiency

5 February 2018

Chicago, IL – February 5, 2018 – LafargeHolcim recently announced two of its plants received the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) prestigious ENERGY STAR® award. The EPA recognized both the Holly Hill plant in Holly Hill, S.C., and Devil’s Slide plant in Morgan, Utah, for being among the most energy-efficient cement plants in the United States.

“Receiving the ENERGY STAR® award this year at two sites is an affirmation of the hard work all our employees are devoting every day to meeting our environmental goals,” said John Stull, CEO, US Cement. “We are excited to receive these awards, and we intend on continuing to reach high levels of sustainability in the upcoming years so we can serve as an example to others in our industry.”

Each year, the EPA honors businesses and organizations from a network of 16,000 partners that have made exceptional contributions to protecting the environment and lead their industries in energy efficiency. The ENERGY STAR® is a national symbol for protecting the environment through superior energy performance.

The two LafargeHolcim sites received this award based on their commitment to reducing energy use and protecting the environment. The EPA commended employees at both sites for establishing strong energy performance as a priority, particularly the following individuals:

Devil’s Slide Plant:      Michael Nixon, Plant Manager

                                       Joshua Coon, Energy Manager

Holly Hill Plant:            Joe McFalls, Plant Manager

Socrates Tinga, Senior Process Performance Engineer

This year’s recognition is the eighth time the EPA has awarded both the Holly Hill and Devil’s Slide plants with the ENERGY STAR® award since 2009.
