Rima Franklin is Vice President of Strategy and Business Development for the United States. She joined LafargeHolcim in August 2017 and is responsible for strategic planning for the U.S. Cement and Aggregates and Construction Materials (ACM) divisions, including the identification and launch of business development initiatives and the execution of all M&A activity at the country level. Ms. Franklin sits on both ACM and Cement Executive Committees.
Most recently, Ms. Franklin was Director of Business Development with Republic Services, leading acquisitions and divestitures, as well as infrastructure development. Previously, Ms. Franklin was Vice President, Corporate Development at Great Lakes Dredge and Dock. In this role, she worked in infrastructure development and industrials, development of public-private partnerships with foreign governmental agencies and acquisition/divesture of assets including operating entities.
While Ms. Franklin has worked in the environmental services and waste industry for more than eight years, she began her career in electrical engineering at Alcatel-Lucent Bell Labs.
She holds bachelors’ degrees in electrical engineering from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois and biology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Ms. Franklin has also earned a master’s degree in Information Systems from Benedictine University and an MBA from the University of Chicago, Booth School of Business, with concentrations in finance, strategy and marketing. She has served as President of the University of Chicago Graduate Women’s Board, providing for the largest donation by an alumni group.
