Chicago, IL – February 7, 2018 – Today, LafargeHolcim announced that two of its quarries have received the National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association’s (NSSGA) 2018 Excellence in Community Relations Award. NSSGA awarded the Lattimore Materials Stringtown Quarry in Stringtown, Okla., with a gold award and the Lafarge Presque Isle Quarry in Presque Isle, Mich., with a bronze award.
“We are thrilled NSSGA has recognized two of our sites for their efforts in building strong, long-lasting relationships within their communities and for always striving to be a good neighbor,” said Guy Edwards, CEO of the US Aggregate Construction Materials (ACM) organization. “Our commitment to giving back to the communities in which we live and work has always been a priority at LafargeHolcim, and we plan to continue being a leader in this area within the industry.”
NSSGA began its Community Relations Awards program nearly 30 years ago to recognize aggregate producers that help to enhance the public perception of the industry and their individual operations by supporting local communities. Award recipients have worked with their communities in a number of ways, including through local events, donations and volunteer services, local and state government involvement, media relations and educational opportunities.
“Every year, the recipients of the NSSGA Excellence in Community Relations Award demonstrate the benefits of being a responsible corporate citizen and how aggregate operations can be an asset to their local communities,” said Michael W. Johnson, NSSGA president. “Strong community relations programs, like those at the Stringtown and Presque Isle quarries, are paramount to showing the benefits of the industry to our neighbors.”
NSSGA will recognize gold award recipients during the association’s annual convention on March 4 in Houston, Texas. These recipients are also eligible for the platinum award, which will be presented during the event.
