Craig Knot joined LafargeHolcim in the US in February 2017 as senior vice president and chief legal officer. Mr. Knot oversees all aspects of the company’s legal department and coordinates US legal strategy with the global legal team. In this role, he supports both the US ACM and Cement businesses and serves on both executive committees.
Before LafargeHolcim, Mr. Knot was a partner at Sidley Austin LLP from 2010 to 2017, where he specialized in complex and multidistrict product liability, mass tort, and antitrust litigation. He also held roles as senior counsel at AT&T in Chicago from 2001 to 2006, and was a partner at Kirkland & Ellis from 1996 to 2001. At AT&T and Kirkland, Mr. Knot handled a wide variety of litigation, including antitrust, product liability, mass tort, construction, electronic communications, and intellectual property throughout the United States.
Mr. Knot has done a variety of pro-bono work, including representing special needs children seeking educational services, the family of a veteran seeking death benefits from the U.S. Army, and a non-profit school in a property dispute with the City of Chicago.
Mr. Knot graduated with honors from Calvin College in 1987 with a Bachelor of Arts degree and majors in philosophy and economics. In 1990, he graduated cum laude from Harvard Law School, Cambridge, Massachusetts with a law degree. Upon graduation from law school, Mr. Knot clerked for the Hon. David A. Nelson of the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
